Please Read Carefully!

The auditions for Mean Girls, HS Edition will take place on  9/11and 9/16 after school, and on 9/13 for call-backs by invitation only beginning at 10 AM. The INFO meeting on 9/8 is extremely important this year because we are taking the show to the PA STATE CONFERENCE on JANUARY 4th.

All students will sign up for a vocal audition slot on Thursday using this Google Form. Once you fill out the audition form, you will be directed to a Sign-Up Genius and can schedule yourself for a slot. Please understand that these are general, and used to make sure we know how many people to expect. If you do not come at 3:30PM, you will miss the review and there will not be another one.

**BAND students who are called back and cannot make Saturday as a result of the competition will call-back on the 16th after school.**

AUDITION NOTES:

Please READ THROUGH ALL OF THE FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS to be prepared!

  •  Students should attempt to learn and practice the dance BEFORE the audition on 9/16.  The "Teaching recap" for dance will take place on Tuesday 9/16, from 3-4:30PM only. It will be fast and will not be long enough for anyone to appropriately learn the dance if that is the only day you practice it.

  • Students should choose a general selection musical piece from the offered selections. In order to be considered for a lead, students should audition the general piece in the way they would if the audition were a callback for a lead.  **Students who do not commit to attending state conference on Jan. 4th can participate in the show, but will not be considered for a lead role or featured role.**

    • This means as off book as possible, with consideration to movement and acting choices. Singing from a cell-phone with your head down is the surest way to be eliminated from the casting process.

    • Music will NOT be taught for the general audition, only reviewed. Come with your pieces rehearsed and prepared.  Choose the piece that best suits your voice and shows your range. Knowing which piece is best for you is part of the audition and tells us whether you know and understand yourself as a singer/actor.

  • Scenes will be read at the callback auditions, but will NOT be posted ahead of time. We are looking for adaptability, ability to learn and read quickly as we would expect in rehearsals, ability to adapt on the spot, and foundational acting skills required in scene work. We are also waiting to see who comes prepared with knowledge of the show and the characters within. Work ethic is really important to us, so show us your commitment by preparing ahead of time!
